A forklift tablet, a rugged keypad scanner, and a large-screen handheld need different layouts. Warehouse Insight device configuration in Business Central controls which view each application uses, which fields and fact boxes appear, which icons show, and whether a device can work offline, so each worker sees what they need.
Every warehouse has a process that does not fit the standard screens. Warehouse Insight can be extended without starting from scratch: install add-ons from the Add-On Catalog, hook into application events with overrides, or build handheld workflows in the App Designer. Third parties are also building add-ons for the catalog.
Quality problems do not stay in one department. Quality Inspector is a full quality management solution for Business Central, covering inspections in production, receiving, warehouse, and shipping. It runs inside Business Central and on handheld devices through Warehouse Insight, so inspections happen where the work does.
In most warehouses, workers post shipments and the office handles invoicing. Some operations want the warehouse to finish the job. Warehouse Insight follows standard Business Central shipping and invoicing, and an add-on from the Add-On Catalog lets authorized staff post invoices along with shipments directly from the handheld.
Workers constantly need to know where an item is and how many are on hand. Warehouse Insight item inquiry shows an item’s bins and quantities on the handheld, can include lot and serial numbers, and is available from almost any application with a single hotkey, so workers do not have to walk back to a PC.
Items move through a warehouse in cases, kilograms, and individual units, sometimes all on the same order. Warehouse Insight supports every unit of measure set up in Business Central, can default the unit from the barcode or the item setup, and lets workers override it on the handheld when picking.
Upgrading a mobile warehouse system raises practical questions: will existing devices still work, and does every device need to update on the same day? Warehouse Insight prompts devices to update automatically, supports mixing older and newer device apps during a transition, and runs on the scanners you already own.
Business Central lets each location run a different level of warehouse functionality, from simple locations without bins to advanced directed put-away and pick. Warehouse Insight supports all of them, so a distribution center and a retail store can run the same mobile solution, each matched to how that location operates.
Not every warehouse task happens on a rugged handheld. The Warehouse Insight Windows app runs the same application as your mobile devices on a laptop or Windows tablet, works with USB and Bluetooth scanners, and gives partners and administrators a better option than an Android emulator for testing, demos, and training.
