Insight Works Releases Warehouse Insight v2.16 for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

April 24, 2026

Insight Works has released Warehouse Insight v2.16 for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The update completes assembly output workflows on the device, improves high-volume scan performance with Store & Forward, and expands App Designer with new blocks for tighter control over custom warehouse application logic.

Insight Works has released Warehouse Insight v2.16 for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, delivering targeted improvements to assembly workflows, scan performance, developer extensibility, and warehouse traceability. For operations teams managing assembly output on the warehouse floor, and for configurators building custom workflows in App Designer, this release removes friction at several points where productivity was previously constrained.

High-volume scanning environments have long faced delays when network conditions fluctuate or device load spikes. Version 2.16 introduces a Store & Forward option that keeps workers productive by queuing operations locally during heavy load or offline periods, then synchronizing when conditions stabilize. Loading times when navigating between take and place lines in warehouse pick documents have also been reduced, keeping order pickers moving without interruption. License plates assigned to active counts no longer block scanning during Advanced Inventory Count, eliminating a bottleneck that previously required manual intervention.

Version 2.16 brings significant depth to assembly workflows, consolidating tracking, labeling, and consumption recording into a more complete on-device experience. Warehouse staff can now record item-tracking details and print item labels directly from the assembly output workflow, without leaving the device. Assembly consumption can be recorded independently of warehouse picks, consistent with how other Business Central application areas handle consumption. Assembly output processes correctly at locations that do not require picks, even when consumption is configured as pick mandatory. Mixed item tracking configurations — such as lot-tracked at the warehouse level and serial-tracked on outbound — are fully supported, extending the range of production scenarios Warehouse Insight can handle without customization.

App Designer gains three new workflow control blocks. The Set Line Value block allows configurators to programmatically update line-level data in custom application workflows. The Wait for Network Queue block enables workflows to pause until pending network operations complete, supporting data integrity in connected processes. The Wait block introduces controlled delays for precise sequencing in multi-step workflows.

Additional changes expand expiration override variables, expose richer barcode and origin data through the item tracking page context, and include the License Plating Template Code in the scan page context. The Inspect Context block now displays full values regardless of length, removing a key limitation for developers troubleshooting application state. Package numbers are now supported across additional routines, and receiving labels include the package number for improved traceability at the point of receipt. This release also corrects number formatting for Dutch (Belgian) regional settings, resolves date display issues under Serbian (Latin), and delivers expanded translations for non-English environments.

“This release reflects feedback from warehouse operators and the partner community, building on top of Warehouse Insight,” says Brian Neufeld, Director of Marketing at Insight Works. “The assembly workflow improvements close a set of gaps that have been generating workarounds in the field — the kind of friction that slows down daily operations in ways that aren’t always visible until you’re standing on the floor.” For more information about Warehouse Insight, visit WMSforDynamics.com.
