MxAPS Project Overview for Partners
MxAPS projects are delivered on a Time and Materials basis because effort varies based on the customer’s manufacturing processes, Business Central setup, scheduling requirements, data readiness, training needs, and overall complexity.
Typical MxAPS Project Process
1. Initial Discussion or Demo
Review the customer’s manufacturing and scheduling requirements and confirm whether MxAPS appears to be a suitable fit.
2. Discovery Engagement
A paid discovery is strongly recommended before providing an implementation estimate.
A typical discovery engagement takes 1 to 4 hours, depending on the complexity of the customer’s manufacturing environment and scheduling requirements.
Discovery may include a review of:
- Business Central manufacturing setup
- Routings and production data
- Work centers and machine resources
- Scheduling requirements and constraints
- Training needs
- Potential configuration gaps or custom development
The goal is to assess readiness and identify factors that may affect the implementation effort.
3. Implementation Estimate
After discovery, Insight Works will provide an implementation estimate based on the anticipated scope and level of effort.
The estimate is not a fixed price, spending cap, or guaranteed total.
All MxAPS implementation services remain Time and Materials and are billed based on actual time incurred.
Budgetary Project Ranges
| Complexity | Estimated Services Budget |
|---|---|
| Non Complex | $3,000 to $10,000 USD |
| Moderately Complex | $10,000 to $20,000 USD |
| Highly Complex | $20,000 to $50,000 USD |
These ranges are for budgeting only and are not fixed prices, spending caps, or guaranteed totals.
Complexity Definitions
Non Complex: $3,000 to $10,000 USD
- Well configured manufacturing environment
- Accurate routings and production data
- Limited scheduling requirements
- Minimal training needs
- Standard MxAPS implementation
- Minor configuration adjustments or limited custom development may be required, but are typically minimal and appropriately scaled
Moderately Complex: $10,000 to $20,000 USD
- More advanced manufacturing processes
- Additional scheduling constraints
- More extensive setup, training, testing, or optimization
- Process or data adjustments may be required
- Some configuration changes or custom development may be needed, scaled appropriately to the project scope
Highly Complex: $20,000 to $50,000 USD
- Complex manufacturing operations
- Advanced scheduling requirements
- Multiple facilities, resources, or constraints
- Significant configuration, testing, integration, or custom development
Performance and Licensing Considerations
Premium Azure Tier
The customer may need to purchase a monthly Premium Azure Tier subscription when MxAPS scheduling takes longer than 10 minutes due to production order volume, scheduling complexity, or both.
The need for the Premium Azure Tier may be estimated during discovery. However, it cannot be confirmed until MxAPS has been fully configured in the customer’s environment and tested using the customer’s representative full production order volume.
Multiple Companies
Multiple companies within the same Business Central environment require a single Unlimited MxAPS licence, regardless of the number of production orders within each company.
Multiple Environments
Each separate Business Central environment requires its own MxAPS licence.
