Dynamic Ship LTL Prerequisites and Considerations
Dynamic Ship supports LTL shipping through freight integrator connectors that connect Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to freight carriers and services. Additional Insight Works licensing, third party licensing, freight integrator fees, or carrier fees may apply depending on the solution selected.
The items below should ideally be completed or understood before your Dynamic Ship LTL Discovery and training. You do not need to have every item finalized before the Dynamic Ship LTL Discovery. Any questions, incomplete items, or decisions still in progress can be reviewed during the session.
Dynamic Ship LTL Project Readiness
1. Dynamic Ship and Business Central
Before LTL configuration and testing:
- Dynamic Ship should be installed and configured for basic EasyPost shipping.
- License Plate Management should be installed and configured.
- Your Business Central shipping processes should be defined and ready for testing.
- Representative sales orders, warehouse shipments, packages, pallets, or other test transactions should be available.
- Insight Works will require remote access to your Business Central environment for configuration and testing.
Getting the standard Dynamic Ship shipping process working first provides the base configuration required before adding the LTL freight integration.
2. Select a Freight Integrator
Dynamic Ship connects to LTL carriers through supported freight integrators.
If possible, select your freight integrator before the Dynamic Ship LTL Discovery. Having the integrator selected allows more of the project to focus on configuration, testing, and project next steps.
Insight Works commonly works with 2Ship and Banyan as preferred freight integrators. Dynamic Ship also supports other freight integrator connectors.
If you have not selected a freight integrator, be prepared to discuss:
- Your current freight carriers
- Your shipping volumes and processes
- Your LTL and FTL requirements
- Required freight services
- Rate shopping requirements
- Freight documentation requirements
- Hazardous materials or dangerous goods requirements
- Any carrier or integration requirements specific to your business
Questions about freight integrator selection can be reviewed during the Dynamic Ship LTL Discovery.
Alternate Small Parcel Integrators
If you plan to use a small parcel integrator other than EasyPost, similar readiness requirements apply.
Please identify the small parcel integrator and the parcel carriers you intend to use. Account setup, carrier configuration, API credentials, connector licensing, and third party fees may also be required.
Questions about alternate small parcel integrations can be reviewed during the Dynamic Ship LTL Discovery.

3. Freight Integrator Account
Once you select a freight integrator, you will need an active account with that provider.
Ideally, before configuration and training:
- Your freight integrator account is active.
- Your required carrier accounts are configured within the freight integrator.
- Required shipping services and account information are available.
- Your freight integrator onboarding process is complete or underway.
- Any required carrier agreements or commercial arrangements are in place.
The freight integrator is responsible for its platform, carrier setup, commercial agreements, account onboarding, and related fees.
4. API Credentials
Insight Works will require API credentials from your freight integrator to connect Dynamic Ship with the freight service.
Your freight integrator or onboarding contact can provide the required credentials.
Protect your credentials
Please do not send API credentials through standard email. Use iSafeSend to provide credentials using a secure, single use link.
5. Freight Shipping Requirements
Before the Dynamic Ship LTL Discovery, consider how your business handles freight shipping today and what you require from the new shipping process.
Be prepared to discuss:
- LTL and FTL requirements
- Carriers currently used
- Shipping locations
- Typical shipment volumes
- Freight classes
- Package, pallet, skid, and handling unit requirements
- Dimensions and weights
- Accessorial services such as liftgate, residential delivery, inside delivery, appointment delivery, or limited access
- Rate shopping requirements
- Carrier selection requirements
- Bills of Lading and other shipping documents
- Shipment tracking requirements
- Freight charges and how they should flow through Business Central
- Any special freight processes or customer requirements
Hazardous Materials and Dangerous Goods
Identify any hazardous materials or dangerous goods shipping requirements before the Dynamic Ship LTL Discovery.
Be prepared to discuss the types of materials being shipped, required documentation, carrier requirements, special handling requirements, and any additional Hazmat support you require.
Hazardous materials requirements may affect freight integrator selection and configuration. 2Ship provides additional support for hazardous materials handling and related documentation and may be recommended depending on your requirements.
6. Third Party Integrations
Dynamic Ship integrations may involve third party systems, APIs, carriers, freight integrators, or other external platforms. These integrations may require coordination with vendors outside of Insight Works.
Third party dependencies may affect project timelines, testing, and implementation effort. Examples include:
- Vendor response times
- API limitations
- Undocumented API behaviour
- Vendor side defects
- Service availability
- Environment instability
- Changes made by the third party
- Changes to third party APIs or services
- Changing integration requirements
- Additional testing or troubleshooting
Insight Works is responsible for the configuration, implementation, and development work included within the agreed project scope. Insight Works cannot guarantee the behaviour, stability, availability, performance, or support responsiveness of third party systems.
Additional third party effort
Additional investigation, testing, troubleshooting, redesign, configuration, development, or support resulting from third party dependencies is billable unless otherwise stated in writing.
7. Questions or Items Not Yet Complete
You do not need to have every LTL decision finalized before the Dynamic Ship LTL Discovery.
The items above should ideally be completed or understood before the Dynamic Ship LTL Discovery and training because they may affect configuration, testing, licensing, freight integrator selection, implementation effort, project responsibilities, and project timing.
Any outstanding questions, freight integrator decisions, account setup, credential requirements, or other readiness items can be reviewed during the Dynamic Ship LTL Discovery.
