Insight Works announced expanded alignment of the Enhanced Forecasting Worksheet with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central AI capabilities, enabling forecast results to drive reorder points, safety stock, and other planning parameters directly within the system.

Insight Works today announced expanded alignment of its Enhanced Forecasting Worksheet with the latest AI advancements in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, enabling forecast results to drive item planning parameters directly within the system.

As Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central continues to expand its artificial intelligence capabilities, including enhanced forecasting and automation in recent release waves, many organizations rely on Azure-generated demand predictions to inform purchasing and production decisions. While Business Central generates forecast quantities, translating those predictions into Safety Stock Quantity, Reorder Point, Reorder Quantity, and Maximum Inventory values typically requires manual adjustment or custom development.

The Enhanced Forecasting Worksheet addresses this operational gap by enabling users to define expressions that calculate planning parameters based on forecast results, historical usage, and lead-time data. These calculated values can then be updated directly in Business Central, aligning forecast output with executable planning rules.

The app supports multiple forecasting algorithms and enables historical data adjustment to refine prediction accuracy. Users can configure expressions that incorporate variables such as forecast quantities, average daily usage, and lead time, using standard Business Central hierarchies. This approach ensures that calculated parameters reflect actual system behavior without altering core Business Central functionality.

The Enhanced Forecasting Worksheet operates within the Business Central environment. It supports both Business Central Cloud and Business Central On-Prem deployments. Each user must hold a Full User Business Central license, and the Enhanced Planning Pack is licensed per company.

“Our goal is to ensure that Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central users can translate AI-generated forecasts into practical planning parameters without custom code,” said Brian Neufeld, Director of Marketing at Insight Works. “The Enhanced Forecasting Worksheet provides a controlled way to connect forecast output directly to reorder logic inside Business Central.”

By allowing forecast results to update item planning fields directly, organizations can ensure that subsequent MRP and MPS calculations reflect the most recent demand projections and defined inventory policies. The configuration process remains consistent with standard Business Central setup practices and does not modify underlying planning engines.

The Enhanced Forecasting Worksheet is available at no cost for one named user per Business Central environment. Additional users require a paid subscription. The single-user license includes full functionality with no time limits or feature restrictions.
