Microsoft Automates Order Entry in Business Central; Dynamic Ship Automates Fulfillment

July 20, 2026

Insight Works’ multi-carrier shipping solution completes the order-to-ship cycle by eliminating manual creation of shipping documents.

Insight Works today announced that Dynamic Ship, its native multi-carrier shipping application for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, complements Microsoft’s new order automation capabilities in Business Central 2025 Release Wave 2. As Microsoft introduces agents to automate order entry and field completion, Dynamic Ship automates the fulfillment side—ensuring that shipping documents, customs forms, and shipment tracking are generated directly from accurate Business Central data, with no manual re-entry or external portals required.

Microsoft Automates Order Entry in Business Central; Dynamic Ship Automates Fulfillment

Microsoft’s Sales Order Agent extracts order details from emails and attachments, automatically populating customer information, product details, and specifications. When those Business Central fields are complete and accurate, Dynamic Ship converts them into shipping documents instantly—no separate shipping software. No looking up HS codes or country of origin. No building customs forms outside the system. The data flows from order entry directly to fulfillment.

For most manufacturers and distributors, fulfillment remains fragmented across multiple systems. A team creates a packing list in one place, generates carrier labels in another platform, and manually enters customs data into a third. By the time an order ships, the same information has been keyed, looked up, or verified five times in five different places. This is exactly the kind of manual, error-prone work that automation is designed to eliminate—yet it happens on the fulfillment side of nearly every Business Central installation.

“Microsoft is right to automate order entry,” said Brian Neufeld, Director of Marketing at Insight Works. “But order automation only matters if fulfillment is equally efficient. When a Sales Order Agent accurately populates customer data and item details, Dynamic Ship should be able to generate a carrier label, bill of lading, and customs documentation in seconds without manual intervention. That’s not possible if your shipping team is still using external portals and re-entering data. Dynamic Ship closes that gap.”

Dynamic Ship generates shipping documents—carrier labels, bills of lading, packing slips, and customs forms—directly from Business Central data. For international shipments, HS codes, country of origin, and declared values come from the item card; customer information and tax identifiers come from the customer card; order details come from the sales order. This data is transmitted to carriers electronically, clearing customs without the need to create manual forms. For domestic orders, the time saved per shipment multiplies across high-volume operations.

The application natively integrates with over 400 parcel, LTL, and FTL carriers via multiple freight platforms, supporting real-time rate comparisons at the sales order level. Address validation prevents failed deliveries and surcharges. Branded tracking pages keep post-purchase communication on brand. Shipping analytics report freight profitability by customer and carrier. All processes occur in Business Central, the same system where the order was created and the data was originally entered.

“The order-to-cash cycle shouldn’t have gaps,” Neufeld continued. “Microsoft is automating the order side, which means manufacturers and distributors expect the fulfillment side to keep pace. Dynamic Ship does that. It’s a native Business Central extension that treats shipping as a first-class part of order management, pulling data from the proper fields and converting it into accurate, compliant shipping documents instantly.”

For SMB manufacturers and distributors, the practical advantage is straightforward. When order data is complete and accurate in Business Central, shipping becomes instant and error-free. No manual label creation. No separate shipping portals. No customs form for re-entry. No looking up HS codes or country of origin. The order is entered into the system once; the shipping documents are generated automatically from that data. The workflow is fast, compliant, and entirely inside Business Central.

Dynamic Ship is available on the Microsoft Marketplace and licensed per physical shipping location, with per-user licensing only for Business Central itself. The application works alongside other Insight Works solutions, including WMS Express (a free, lightweight warehouse management solution), Warehouse Insight (a full mobile WMS), and License Plating for pallet and carton tracking.
