Insight Works, a leading developer of productivity and operations applications for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, today announced that Microsoft has licensed a subset of its Quality Inspector application as the foundation for the new Quality Management module, released as part of Business Central version 28 (2026 Release Wave 1) on April 1, 2026.
The Quality Management extension is now included natively in Business Central, giving manufacturers and distributors a built-in starting point for quality control workflows, including inspection templates, generation rules, and pass/fail grading, without requiring a separate installation. The technology underpinning it was developed and refined by Insight Works over many years as part of its Quality Inspector application.
For organizations that need capabilities beyond the built-in module, such as AI-assisted inspection, advanced sampling with AQL, mobile and Teams integration, integration with other Insight Works’ apps from Business Central, and tooling calibration management, Insight Works continues to offer the full-featured Quality Inspector application. An Upgrade Toolkit is also available to migrate from Quality Management to Quality Inspector as operational requirements grow.
