DocXtender uses the built-in auto-translation capabilities of Business Central. As a result, it supports all languages supported by Business Central.

How do I install DocXtender?

DocXtender is easy to install. Simply visit Microsoft Marketplace, search for “DocXtender,” and install it into your Business Central online (SaaS) environment. That’s it. After installation, you can attach documents by dragging files directly onto your Business Central pages.

What document types can I attach to Business Central?

DocXtender accepts all common document types, including .pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .html, .txt, .zip, .jpg, .png, .gif, and more. You can also drag email messages directly from Microsoft Outlook and store them as .msg files. There are no DocXtender-specific file size or quantity limits; any practical limits are governed by Business Central or SharePoint.

Why don’t I just store my documents on a file server?

You can, but DocXtender is more efficient. By attaching documents directly to Business Central records, users don’t need to switch applications to find related files. Documents are easier to locate, less likely to be misfiled, and immediately accessible to authorized users working in Business Central.

How many documents can I attach to a Business Central record?

There is no limit to the number of documents that can be attached to a Business Central record.

Is DocXtender really free?

Yes. DocXtender is completely free to use.

Does DocXtender work with on-premises Business Central?

No. DocXtender is designed for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central online (SaaS) only. It does not support legacy NAV or on-premises Business Central installations.

Does DocXtender integrate with SharePoint or File Explorer?

DocXtender integrates with SharePoint Online. You can configure it to either store documents directly inside Business Central or upload documents to SharePoint Online and store a live link back to the Business Central record. DocXtender does not integrate with Windows File Explorer or on-premises file servers.

Are there limitations on what Business Central pages DocXtender can be added to?

DocXtender works on any Business Central page that supports the standard Attachment FactBox. For pages that do not include attachments by default, DocXtender can be extended using standard Business Central page extensions to support drag-and-drop attachments on additional records.
